Nearly 30 journalism students enrolled in several convergence-related classes at North Carolina A&T State University will be putting their multimedia skills to use this week covering homecoming events.
Since the beginning of the semester, students have been learning how to produce slideshows, Q&As, video packages, and maps, culminating in coverage of A&T's homecoming. Homecoming events are expected to draw thousands of alumni and pump millions of dollars into the local economy.
Students are linking their productions to Facebook, a popular online social network. For nearly half of the students, this is their first journalism class and introduction to convergence, which many experts see as the future of journalism.
Their productions, which are located at http://aggiehomecoming2009.blogspot.com/ ,were produced by professor Arthea Perry and Kim Smith, Ph.D.
